My husband and I purchased a mobile home approx 7 yrs ago.The price was around 40K,with 3 yrs remaining on the mortgage,we owe approx 13K.Due to my husbands hours being cut and my inability to find work,we have fallen behind on our mortgage.Vanderbilt Mort & Finance have been very rude, very threatening each time we've spoken to them. One rep told me we needed to get our priorities in order and tell the children, until our trailer payment was paid, they wouldn't be eating. Another time they said they,if payment was not received by a certain day,I should go out and find a cardboard box big enough for my family to live in,because they would have the sheriff at my door to put us out.Yesterday,I sent them a payment totaling 609.00,which they accepted. This was for April and most of Mays, the remainder of Mays will be paid tomorrow. They are saying we will be forced out of our home, with no notice. They said they do not have to give a notice, they can come at any time they choose and put us out. I have four children and am shocked that this would be lawful for them to do.Please tell me what the laws are regarding this.
